Project LINE specifically aims to facilitate compliance with the requirements of the e-Justice programme in the area of land registration.
The next generation EULIS 2.0 platform is a key deliverable of Project LINE. The technical solution will aim to be sustainable and financially viable, to enable new land registry organisations to cost-effectively connect to the EULIS 2.0 platform. Simultaneously it will be flexible and future-proof for new and evolving national technical land register systems. It will be aligned with the European e-Justice portal and it will offer the chance in the future to be able to provide added-value products/services to the European audience in the future i.e. e-Signatures, e-registration.
Project LINE will run from 1st September 2010 for a 2-year period.

As Project LINE is supported by the European Commission you may want to read around the wider EU perspective on the Civil Justice programme and initiatives. You can find some links beneath.
European Commission (Directorate General Justice)
The Directorate-General for Justice was created on July 1 2010. It consists of three directorates – Civil Justice, Criminal Justice and Fundamental Rights and Citizenship.
European Union (EU) leaders recognise the need to tackle the problems that sometimes make the judicial and administrative systems of EU Member States complex and incompatible with each other. To enable individuals and companies to exercise their rights in a Member State other than their own, EU leaders laid out three priorities for action: better access to justice, mutual recognition of judicial decisions and increased convergence in the field of procedural law.
The Civil justice programme will promote the elimination of obstacles to the good functioning of cross-border civil proceedings in the Member States and aims to improve the daily life of individuals and businesses, notably by fostering access to justice. Projects financed under this programme will improve the contacts, exchange of information and networking between legal, judicial and administrative authorities and the legal professions.
In line with the EU’s objectives, the European e-Justice Portal offers information on many areas to enhance access and transparency into judicial systems in the EU Member States. The Portal was launched in Jul 2010 and is now online for registration.
